Where we work. Land Acknowledgement.
RaceRocks is on a journey of learning, growth and understanding as we encapsulate what it means to be a “People First” company. Part of this journey includes learning about the history and culture of Indigenous people.
Through our learnings we now know that a very large majority of the land and territory we refer to as “Canada” and its parts is unceded; Indigenous people and the land they and their ancestors traditionally lived on was never ceded or legally signed away to the Government of Canada.
With this in mind and as we continue our learning journey to understand how we move forward in a meaningful way in relation to the land and first peoples we would like to recognize and acknowledge that our head office and many of our team members are located on the unceded Coast Salish Territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples.
You can learn more about Indigenous Territories and Lands by visiting the Native Land Digital Map. Native Land Digital is a Canadian not-for-profit organization, incorporated in December 2018. Native Land Digital is Indigenous-led, with an Indigenous Executive Director and Board of Directors who oversee and direct the organization. You can also visit the Songhees Nation of the lək̓ʷəŋən People website at: www.songheesnation.ca and the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council Society website at: www.wsanec.com to learn more.
